THEO 113 - Biblical and Early Christian Theology Credit Hours 3 This course examines the development of the biblical canon and key theological themes and ideas in early Christianity. Students will be introduced to topics including, but not limited to: methods of biblical interpretation; key theories about the development of biblical traditions in the Hebrew Bible and Christian Scriptures; the diversity of faith perspectives in early Christian communities; the implications of Christianity’s transformation from persecuted sect to Imperial religion, and the processes of adaptation as the gospel encountered cultures beyond the Greco-Roman world up to c. 500 CE.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in theology.
