POSC 244 - Politics of Developing Areas Credit Hours 3 This course offers students an introduction to understanding and comparing the key economic and political issues of the developing world (Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East). To achieve this goal, this course will cover specific countries and regions as well as thematic elements such as colonialism, revolution and violence, economic development, democratization, the role of international institutions, human rights, global health, and much more. In-depth analyses of modern-day case studies will provide students with a better understanding of the developing world.
This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social sciences.
