NURS 314 - Adult Nursing 1: Fundamentals

Credit Hours 3, 3
Focuses on holistic care of adults, older adults, and their families in acute medical-surgical settings as they adapt to changes in the health/illness spectrum. Students integrate theoretical concepts with the best nursing evidence within the framework of critical thinking and caring to foster growth in knowledge and competencies. Professional roles of the nurse, critical thinking, and ethical issues are explored as students provide safe and quality care. Clinical experience takes place in the simulation laboratory and a variety of medical-surgical settings. Lecture (3 hrs) and clinical rotation (3 hrs) must be completed concurrently. Successful completion is a grade of C or higher in lecture and a grade of pass in clinical experience.  Fall.
