CHEM 253 - Organic Chemistry I Credit Hours 4Lab Hours 1 An introduction to the study of carbon compounds. Topics include synthesis, structure, stereo-chemistry, reaction mechanisms, and the use of spectroscopy in the study of carbon compounds. Includes lecture (4 hours) and laboratory (1 hour). Students in degree programs who have not already completed the laboratory must take the lecture and laboratory concurrently; laboratory requires concurrent enrollment in the lecture.
Prerequisite(s): CHEM 121 with a minimum grade of C-.
