CHEM 225 - A Cosmos of Color 3 hours This course will explore the history, science and social expressions of color. Scientifically, color is created by the interactions between light and matter. We will study 1) the physical nature of color production, 2) the biological process of perceiving and interpreting color, 3) the role of color in personal expression, 4) the function of color in biases, and 5) the structures of institutional oppression and injustice linked to the production of colorants.

Prerequisite(s): One year of high school chemistry.
