MUS 290 - Liturgical Choir 1 hour This course serves to develop music skills while enriching the contemplative and prayer life of the University community. Students will learn basic music reading, singing technique, and harmonization within a choral ensemble. They will also learn about the liturgical year and music’s role in it, while experiencing a variety of liturgical music styles: polyphony, chant, classical hymnody, contemporary music, folk, and gospel music. Liturgical Choir will provide music for 4 liturgical events throughout the semester. This course can be repeated for credit; this course is graded on a satisfactory/fail basis. All levels are welcome.
Prerequisite(s): Consent of instructor.
