THEO 376 - Asian Religions
This course examines the central beliefs and distinctive practices of the major religious traditions of India, China, Japan, and Thailand. Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Taoism, and Shinto receive extended attention. Other traditions (i.e., Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, new religious movements) will receive consideration as interest and time permit. Students will explore aspects of interreligious dialogue and conflict among Asian traditions and also with Western faiths. (3 hours)
Prerequisite(s): Sophomore standing or consent of the instructor.
This course will satisfy the multicultural core requirement.
