THEO 248 - The Multicultural Church

3 hours
It is often said that when God spoke, the language was dialect. Thus to be effective in preaching the word of God, the church must be an expert in culture. Indeed, from the “multilingual” event of Pentecost, as depicted in the Acts of the Apostles, to more recent missionary concerns about “inculturation,” questions about a “multicultural church” have been central to Christian theology. Taking a topical approach, this course considers various models of the multicultural church, all in the service of faith seeking to understand how the church may be at once culturally diverse and yet universally one.

This course will satisfy the theology core area and the multicultural studies requirement.
