POSC 290 - Political Parties

3 Credit Hours
Why should I vote when both the Democrats and Republicans are terrible? Why are political parties the way they are? This course examines political parties in the American system. We examine what political parties are and what they do in the system, including why dozens of “other” political parties are obscured by the dominance of the R’s and D’s in the United States. In addition, the role of political parties in both the decision to vote and who to vote for will be examined. Political parties and voting have been and continue to be a vital part of American political life and freedom. This course will look at where parties have been, are now, and where they may be heading in the 21st century.

This course will satisfy the core area requirement in social sciences.
